The Community Medical Services & Essential Drugs (CMS-ED) course is designed to train healthcare assistants to provide basic medical care and primary health services in community and rural settings. The program focuses on preventive and promotive healthcare, basic diagnosis, first aid, and the safe use of essential medicines under approved guidelines.
Students gain knowledge of common diseases, maternal and child health, primary healthcare practices, emergency care, health education, and community health management. Emphasis is placed on understanding essential drugs, their indications, dosage, storage, and safe administration, along with infection control and ethical healthcare practices.
Through classroom teaching, practical training, and field exposure, learners develop the skills required to support healthcare delivery in primary health centers, clinics, and community outreach programs. Upon completion, graduates are prepared to assist in basic healthcare services and community health initiatives, especially in underserved areas.
